Originally in the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation (EVSC), the JROTC program was established in 1995 at Central High School. In 1996, a Detachment JROTC was established at Harrison High School. EVSC had 2 distinct JROTC programs up until 2012. In the fall of 2012, EVSC had established the 1st Magnet JROTC program in 7th Brigade. This is the time that the EVSC JROTC was united under one name, the EVSC Eagle Battalion. All EVSC high schools were now able to be a part of JROTC.
A new emblem was created to provide unity between all 5 high schools. Our lineage is as follows; the US flag is for the greatest country in the world, we are part of the US Army JROTC program, we are in the EVSC school district, our big brother and big sister is the ROTC program at the University of Southern Indiana Eagle Battalion and the stars represent the state of Indiana's statehood in the United States of America.
